Welcome to WordPress 1.5.2. This update brought to you by the letters C, V, and S.
I upgraded the site to WordPress 1.5.1.2. This was a major upgrade so if anything is missing or not working please let me know. There are still a few navigation issues I need to pin down, but most things are working…
We’re now running WordPress 1.2. Check the release announcement and the changelog for more details.
We use CVS to manage the source code for supercrime.org. It allows all of us to make changes simultaneously and greatly eases the difficulty in upgrading to new versions of WP. To give you an idea how easy this makes things, here’s a listing of all the commands needed to upgrade our site from 1.2-rc2 to 1.2-mingus (the final release version):
$ wget http://wordpress.org/latest $ tar zxvf wordpress-1.2-mingus.tar.gz $ cd wordpress/ $ cvs import -m \"WordPress 1.2-mingus\" supercrime/web WP_DIST WP_1_2 $ cd .. $ cvs checkout -jWP_1_2_rc2 -jWP_1_2 supercrime/web $ cd supercrime/ $ cvs ci -m \"Merge 1.2-mingus\" $ cd .. $ rm -rf wordpress*
That’s right, it’s been a week since I lasted posted something about the site. While I recognize this is a rather long time, I’m trying to get into this whole “post content” thing. We’ll see how I do. In the meantime I updated the site to WordPress 1.2-rc1. Read more at the WordPress Dev Blog.
I was originally planning to use Movable Type for supercrime.org. Turns out Movable Type didn’t play well with Yahoo! Web Hosting, so I was forced to look for alternatives. I eventually found WordPress and have been quite pleased with it. Given the recent developments with MT 3.0, I must say I was very fortunate with my (eventual) choice of WordPress. WP is released under the GPL, so I don’t have to worry about licensing fees…
Continuing my tradition of posting information about updates to the site:
Welcome to the beginning of our new look. See anything different? You most likely won’t believe me, but that color-coordinated image of gears at the top is my doing. I installed The GIMP and produced that fine image after a couple hours of mucking about. It was rather enjoyable. Look for more graphics in the next couple weeks.
Our readership may be growing soon…
I just updated supercrime.org to WordPress 1.2-beta. For more information, see the announcement in the WordPress Development Blog.
Let me know if things are broken…
As half of the loyal supercrime.org readership, I’m always pleased when the site gets the respect it so richly deserves. And so I was ecstatic to learn today that we are now the number 1 hit for “supercrime” on Google. The snippet is taken from symon’s amazing first post:
supercrime.org. … Now, I don’t want to overhype supercrime before it really gets rolling, but it is going to be better than 10 superbowls. …
Sweet, sweet validation…
I’ll be sure to keep reading to solidify our position on top. Will you?
